Right of withdrawal (14 days)

Consumer Rights Directive 2011/83/EU, arts. 6 and 9

Who the contract is with

is a platform: it publishes listings and connects buyers and sellers. The contract for the sale and purchase of an item is between you and the seller, not with . The right of withdrawal below is exercised against the seller; this page cannot grant, extend or cancel it.

When you have 14 days

When the seller is a trader (a business selling in the course of its trade) and the sale is a distance contract, you may withdraw within 14 days of receiving the goods, without giving a reason. You then have a further 14 days to send the goods back. The seller must refund within 14 days of being told, including standard outbound delivery costs.

When the seller is a private individual, the consumer right of withdrawal does not apply — a private individual is not a trader within the meaning of consumer law.

When it does not apply

Among the exceptions in art. 16, the ones that matter here are:

  • Public auctions. A sale by public auction, where the consumer attends the auction in person or is given the possibility of doing so, is not a distance contract and carries no 14-day right of withdrawal (art. 16(k)). Bids placed on this platform are therefore binding once the lot closes.
  • Goods made to the consumer's specification or clearly personalised.
  • Goods that deteriorate or expire quickly.
  • Sealed goods unsealed after delivery, where they are not suitable for return for health or hygiene reasons.
  • Digital content supplied with the consumer's prior consent, where the right has been expressly lost.

How to withdraw

Tell the seller, before the 14 days are up, with a clear statement (an email is enough), or use the model form below. Keep proof of the date you sent it. Then send the goods back within 14 days of that statement.
